What sets ReThread apart is its innovative approach to merging traditional print media with the future of interactive design. By incorporating AR-enhanced content, the magazine bridges the gap between the tactile experience of print and the immersive world of digital technology.

project context

Inspired by how augmented reality (AR) is transforming the fashion experience, and by the resurgence of interest in hobbies like sewing and upcycling, I developed ReThread. ReThread not only highlights the importance of eco-friendly fashion practices but also taps into the nostalgic appeal of print media, while leveraging technology to meet the needs and interests of a younger, conscious audience.

The brand is built on the idea of fostering a strong community of like-minded individuals passionate about reducing waste in the fashion industry. By highlighting local resellers and offering free sewing patterns, ReThread not only provides inspiration but also creates a platform for collaboration and shared values.

So, what’s ReThread?

ReThread publishes a monthly 12-page zine that features sewing patterns crafted from reused clothes and fabrics, along with fabric recommendations, spotlights on featured resellers, and insights into the latest trends in sustainable fashion.

Complementing the zine is the ReThread app, which allows users to scan QR codes for augmented reality (AR) versions of the sewing patterns. Users can also easily retrieve any previous designs stored within the app.
