Planet Paw Organisation – Cold Feet Project

Planet Paws organisation, launching The Cold Feet Collection project, aims to raise people's awareness of climate change's impact on penguin populations in Antarctica by offering a collection of eco-friendly products such as clothing and stationery. This project aims to earn money by selling items from the collection and donating the profits to penguin conservation organisations. The goal is to support the endangered penguin population and indirectly increase public awareness of environmental concerns and their destructive impact on wildlife.

The current status of penguins in Antarctica is highly worth-concerned.

“Penguins in Antarctica are currently facing severe threats due to climate change and the rapid melting of sea ice, which is essential for their survival. Species like the emperor penguin are particularly vulnerable, as they rely on stable sea ice to breed and rear their young. As sea ice diminishes, penguin populations are experiencing significant declines. For instance, recent data indicates that emperor penguins are at risk of facing extinction if current trends continue, with entire colonies failing to produce any surviving chicks in some years due to collapsing ice platforms​.” (Greenpeace International, 2020)

“Chinstrap penguins, once considered a species of “least concern,” have seen their numbers plummet by as much as 77% in the last 50 years, according to research conducted by Greenpeace and Stony Brook University. This drastic population decline is primarily attributed to the reduction in krill, a key food source for penguins, which is dependent on sea ice. As sea ice melts, the availability of krill decreases, disrupting the food web and endangering penguins, seals, and whales that rely on krill for sustenance.” (Meredith, M. P., & King, J. C., 2005)

the design

Planet Paw will change its website and social media theme and colour palette to correspond to every project and campaign during those specific periods, not to fix it with blue and cold tones. This current palette is most suitable for penguins and Antarctica.

the collection

Using the key visuals, logo, and their variations of colour and combination, I created the mock-ups for the merchandise collection. I mainly focused on daily clothes and accessories, with both summer and winter versions to express the diversity and use flexibility of the collections.

the community

Not only is the log-in/sign-up button on the header necessary to keep in touch with the audiences and customers, but the application form for collaboration and social accounts positions is also worth considering for Planet Paw’s community growth. Since the organisation touches on wicked problems of animals and the environment, constantly reaching, refilling and working with professional partners or volunteers is considered an unignorable task.
