Forest Lake Huntsmen

The Forest Lake Huntsmen is a conceptual expansion team for the NBL1 - a semi-professional basketball league in Australia - as it grows in size across Queensland. The branding of the team is built from the ground up, which involves the club's name, logo, branding, jersey and digital collateral. The aim of this concept is to bring the district of Forest Lake, and its neighbouring suburbs, to come together.

THE CLUB NAME AND LOGO

the huntsmen

The Forest Lake Huntsmen was inspired by the feared Huntsman spider, known for its speed, agility, and ability to navigate various terrains. Much like the spider, the name embodies these qualities that communicate a high level of professionalism to the court. The Huntsmen is a name that oozes confidence and intimidation; just as majority of the public are scared when face-to-face with a spider.

THE LOGO

Based on the core elements that make up basketball – being the ball and the rim/net – the club logo incorporates the eight legs of the spider with the net to create a visually appealing, but also unsettling image. The main idea that the club logo communicates is that teams should be cautious as they may be caught in the spider’s trap.
