Shier, or 十二, is a concept dessert bar that celebrates the rich symbolism of the Chinese Zodiac. Each of the twelve zodiac animals is thoughtfully represented through an array of exquisite desserts and themed drinks, crafted to reflect their unique strengths and meanings in Chinese culture.
I’ve designed 12 unique characters inspired by the Chinese Zodiac animals, each embodying distinct traits and personalities that reflect their corresponding sign. These characters will serve as the heart of the Shier experience, deepening the connection and understanding between you and the Chinese culture.
In designing the Shier menu, I aimed to create a high-end experience by drawing inspiration from renowned themed bars in Brisbane. My approach focuses on developing a book that visually highlights each item or set across a double-page spread, rather than following a simple list format. To enhance that sense of luxury, I plan to incorporate a leather hardcover and ensure that the layout utilises a lot of negative space, reinforcing a refined and premium aesthetic.
Our interactive ordering app lets you ‘care for’ your very own zodiac character while enjoying your time at the dessert bar. As you eat or drink, your virtual companion will interact with you, adding a playful and personalised touch to your experience. Each time you order, you can also ‘feed’ your zodiac companion the same dish, making every visit more fun and engaging!
